When Damage Is Not Covered by Statutory Warranty Rights or the Voluntary Guarantee

CLIFF products are designed for active play. However, certain types of damage are not covered by statutory warranty rights or the voluntary guarantee.

This applies in particular to damage caused by improper use, incorrect assembly or normal wear and tear during everyday family life.

The following are generally not covered:

  • Damage caused by incorrect assembly

  • Damage caused by improper use

  • Damage caused by exceeding the maximum load

  • Use contrary to the product instructions

  • Use without following the age recommendation

  • Use without observing the maximum load limit

  • Outdoor use, unless expressly permitted

  • Damage caused by moisture or storage in damp rooms

  • Damage caused by aggressive cleaning products

  • Damage caused by modifications or alterations to the product

  • Damage caused by incompatible or incorrectly attached accessories

  • Normal signs of use

  • Scratches, small dents or cosmetic marks caused by everyday use

If you are unsure, please contact us. We will carefully review your case.

CLIFF Balance Wooden Toy for Balance and Coordination

Natural Wood Is Unique – and That Is Exactly What Makes It Special

CLIFF products are made of wood. Wood is a natural material, and each product may have slight visual variations.

Natural wood characteristics may include:

  • Different grain patterns

  • Slight variations in colour

  • Visible wood texture

  • Small visual differences between components

  • Natural variations in the surface appearance

These characteristics are not quality defects. They make each wooden product unique and are part of the natural appearance of wood.

Minor signs of use may also develop during everyday family life. This is normal for wooden products used for active play.

Important: Sandpaper is included with all products. Surface areas that can be corrected by light sanding as part of normal wood care do not constitute grounds for a statutory warranty claim.

How to Submit a Claim

If you notice a defect, receive a damaged item or experience a problem with your CLIFF product, please contact us by email.

Where possible, please send us:

  • Your order number

  • The product name

  • A brief description of the problem

  • Photos of the affected part

  • Photos of the entire product, if helpful

  • Photos of the packaging if the damage may have occurred during shipping

The more precise the information you provide, the faster we can review your claim.

If Your Package Arrives Damaged

Some damage may occur during transport rather than to the product itself.

If your package arrives visibly damaged, please document the damage as soon as possible.

Please take photos of:

  • The outer packaging

  • Any damaged areas of the box

  • The opened package

  • The affected product part

  • All damaged components

  • The complete contents of the delivery

Please do not dispose of the packaging immediately. It may be important for assessing and verifying the transport damage.

Spare Parts and Suitable Solutions

If only one component is affected, the entire product does not always need to be replaced. Depending on the individual case, a spare part, repair solution or another suitable solution may be more appropriate.

We will review your request individually and contact you with the next steps.

Important:

Do not continue using your CLIFF product if any part is damaged, loose, broken or visibly unsafe.

Safety and Warranty Go Hand in Hand

The warranty requires your CLIFF product to be assembled correctly, used properly and inspected regularly.

Safety begins in everyday use: during assembly, use, care and supervision.

Please always:

  • Read and follow the assembly instructions

  • Inspect the product before first use

  • Check screws and connections regularly

  • Observe the maximum load limit

  • Follow the age recommendation

  • Use only compatible accessories and attach them correctly

  • Supervise children during play

  • Use the product only indoors as intended

  • Do not continue using damaged parts

Proper Care Helps Extend the Product’s Lifespan

Proper care protects the material, surface and functionality of your CLIFF product.

For regular cleaning, a soft, slightly damp cloth is usually sufficient. Avoid aggressive cleaning products, abrasive cleaners, excessive water and prolonged exposure to high humidity.

To keep your CLIFF product looking beautiful for years:

  • Clean it regularly with a soft cloth

  • Avoid moisture

  • Do not use aggressive cleaning products

  • Do not use rough sponges or brushes

  • Treat wooden surfaces gently

  • Allow mats to dry completely

  • Inspect the product regularly for damage

Correct Assembly and Use

Many claims result from incorrect assembly, insufficient inspection or use outside the product’s intended purpose.

To ensure that your CLIFF product remains safe and durable, always follow the relevant assembly instructions.

Check Before First Use:

  • Are all parts included?

  • Are all screws inserted correctly?

  • Are all connections secure?

  • Is the product stable?

  • Are all accessories attached correctly?

  • Is the play area free from hard or sharp objects?

  • Is the maximum load limit being observed?

If anything is not fitted correctly or appears damaged, do not use the product and contact us.

  • Knots

  • Wooden handles

  • Seats

  • Connection points

Do not continue using accessories if they are damaged or not securely attached.

  • Do not use for jumping

Frequently Asked Questions About Warranty and Statutory Warranty Rights

  • What Is the Difference Between Statutory Warranty Rights and a Voluntary Guarantee?

Statutory warranty rights are your legal rights if a product is defective. The voluntary CLIFF guarantee is an additional service provided by CLIFF and does not affect your statutory warranty rights.

  • What Warranty Does CLIFF Offer?

CLIFF offers a voluntary warranty for certain product categories: a lifetime warranty on the structural components of its climbing frames and a 1-year warranty on accessories.

  • Does the Warranty Cover All Types of Damage?

No. Damage caused by improper use, incorrect assembly, overloading, moisture, modifications, incompatible accessories or normal wear and tear is generally not covered.

  • Does the Warranty Cover Normal Signs of Use?

Normal signs of use, minor scratches or cosmetic marks caused by active play are generally not covered by the voluntary guarantee or statutory warranty rights.

  • Are Natural Variations in Wood Considered a Defect?

No. Variations in grain, slight colour differences and the natural wood texture are normal characteristics of wood and are not quality defects.

  • What Should I Do If a Part Is Damaged?

Stop using the product and contact us with your order number, product name, a description of the issue and photos. This will help us review your request more quickly.

  • Do I Need to Return the Entire Product?

Not always. Sometimes a spare part or another suitable solution is sufficient. Please contact us before returning anything.

  • Does the Warranty Apply If I Bought the Product Second-Hand?

The voluntary CLIFF guarantee applies to the original purchaser and is non-transferable.

  • Does the Warranty Apply If I Have Modified the Product?

Modifications, alterations or unintended use may result in warranty claims being excluded. Please use CLIFF products only as intended.

  • Does the Warranty Apply to Outdoor Use?

CLIFF products are designed for indoor use unless otherwise stated on the relevant product page. Damage caused by moisture, rain or outdoor storage is generally not covered.

  • Is CLIFF StepUp Covered by the Climbing Frame Warranty?

No. CLIFF StepUp is a learning tower, not a climbing frame. The relevant product information and warranty terms for learning towers and Montessori furniture apply to StepUp.

  • Do My Statutory Rights Remain Unaffected?

Yes. Your statutory warranty rights remain unaffected by the voluntary CLIFF guarantee.
